Senior Kuwaiti Shia Cleric Passes Away

TEHRAN (IQNA) – Ayatollah Seyed Mohammad Baqer Mousawi al-Mohri, a senior Kuwaiti Shia scholar, passed away after having a heart attack on Saturday.

Ayatollah Mohri was the representative of a number of grand sources of emulation in Kuwait and led prayers in Imam Ali (AS) Mosque in Kuwait city.


His body is expected to be flown to the holy city of Najaf, Iraq, for burial.


Ayatollah Mohri, who died at the age of 66, was a prominent cleric and a political and scholarly figure.


Born in 1948 in Najaf, he started learning religious sciences at an early age.

His father, grand Ayatollah Seyed Abbas Mohri, was among the top scholars at Najaf seminary.


He was a student of senior scholars such as grand Ayatollah Abolqassem Khoei and grand Ayatollah Seyed Mohammad Baqer Sadr.


Ayatollah Seyed Mohammad Baqer Mousawi al-Mohri was a devotee of Imam Khomeini (RA) and always supported the Islamic Revolution.
