THERAN (IQNA) – The second edition of “Tijan Al-Noor” national Quran competition for Qatari children has been underway since July 5.

According to Al-Rayah newspaper, the competition has been organized by “Aisha bint Muhammad Al-Suwaidi” Quran Center in Qatar under the supervision of the Women Section of the country's Eid Charity Institute.

120 gilrs and boys have participated in this edition of the Quranic event and every day 24 participants compete on Quran memorization from 8 to 12 p.m. local time.

Memorization of Surah Al-Nas to Al-Zuhaa, memorization of the 30th Juz (part) of the Quran and memorization of the Juzes 29 and 30 are the three categories of the competition, respectively for children between 4 and 5, 6 and 9 and those between 10 and 13 years of age.

Amina Ma’rifiyya, head of the Women Section of the institute said that the center makes all efforts to help raise a generation familiar with the Holy Quran’s teachings, reading and memorizing Quran and contemplating its meanings.

She noted that Quran memorization needs continuous efforts and such competitions provide the opportunity for children to develop their relation with the Divine Book.
