According to tafsir.net, the competition titled “The President Award” was attended by representatives of 9 countries including Yemen, Somalia, Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda, Sudan, the Comoros Islands, Djibouti and Tanzania.
The participants from Djibouti and Tanzania respectively won the first and the second ranks in the competition.
The winners were awarded in a ceremony attended by Ismail Omar Guelleh, the President of Djibouti.
He stressed the continuation of such Quranic activities and serving the Holy Quran and appreciated the efforts made by the organizing committee of the competition.
Djibouti is a mostly French- and Arabic-speaking country, on the Horn of Africa. Muslims make up more than 94 percent of the country’s 500,000 inhabitants.
