TEHRAN (IQNA) – Iranians who took part in massive rallies on Friday to mark the International Quds Day underlined that the issue of Palestine and liberation of Quds are still the top priorities for the Muslim world.

Issuing a statement at the end of the rallies, they slammed any move aimed at diverting the Muslim Ummah’s attention from the issue of Palestine.

They reiterated that the only way to resolve the Palestinian issue is the return of all Palestinian refugees to the occupied lands and determination of the future of Palestine through popular vote.

The demonstrators also condemned the Zionist regime’s crimes against Palestinians and the regime’s attempts to Judaize the occupied territories, as well as global silence over these crimes.

Muslims around the world held rallied yesterday to mark the International Quds Day.

The event's overarching theme is support for the Palestinians and fierce denunciation of the Zionist regime.

It is seen as an opportunity for freedom-seeking people across the world, regardless of faith, to voice their support for the cause of Palestine and vent their anger against the Apartheid regime of Israel, which has occupied Palestinian territories since 1967.

The day is also seen as the legacy of the late founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Imam Khomeini (RA), who officially declared the last Friday of the holy month of Ramadan as International Quds Day back in 1979.

Elsewhere in the statement, the participants in Friday’s nationwide rallies denounced the Saudi regime for killing the innocent children and women of Yemen in their aggression against the impoverished country.

Saudi Arabia and some of its Arab allies have been conducting deadly airstrikes on Yemen since March 26.

More than 3100 people, including many children and women, have been killed during more than 100 days of Saudi-led military strikes on the Arab country.
