The meeting, initiated by Algeria and supported by the UN, will be an opportunity to present the main actions carried out against terrorism and extremism, Ennahar Online reported.
Algeria tends to contribute to the Summit on "violent extremism", to be held at the meeting of the United Nations General Assembly in September in New York.
The work of the Algiers conference will focus on eight (8) major themes animated in eight separate sessions. This is the "Presentation of the importance and role of the fight against violent extremism and de-radicalization in the fight against terrorism", "The role of the judiciary system in the de-radicalization, including in prison" and "The role of religious institutions in the de-radicalization ".
The themes of the conference will also focus on "de-radicalization, rehabilitation and reintegration," "De-radicalization and efforts against violent extremism through education, including the effective promotion of teaching methods , vocational training and employment" and "The role of media, including satellite TV and religious programs in the de-radicalization."
The debate will also focus on topics related to the "Role of civil society in the de-radicalization" and finally to "de-radicalization and the phenomena of xenophobia and Islamophobia."
Participants will be asked for two days to identify common challenges in the field of de-radicalization and the fight against violent extremism, as well as actions that may constitute ways for cooperation within the UN system or United Global Forum for the Fight against Terrorism (GCTF).
