Iran’s Mohsen Hajihassani Kargar finished first in the annual Quran contest back in June.
He has posted a photo on his Instagram page of the Aqiq (agate) ring he has received as a gift from the Supreme Leader.
Quran reciters and memorizers from over 70 countries competed in Malaysia’s 57th International Quran Competition, which lasted five days starting June 9.
Hajihassani Kargar came first in recitation. The runner-up was Malaysia’s contender while representatives of the Philippines, Brunei and Algeria came third to fifth.
In the memorization of the entire Holy Quran category, memorizers from Qatar, Kuwait and Tunisia won the first to third titles, respectively.
So far, Iranian reciters have won the first prize at nine editions of the competition. The Iranians have also taken the second place for eight times and the third place once.
