Leaders of Islamic World to Gather in Moscow
The list of invited leaders includes the leaders of the Azerbaijan Republic, Jordan, Qatar, Kuwait, Turkey, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Iran, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and other countries.
According to Izvestiya, the event is scheduled for the second half of September, likely on 23 September, Oxu.Az reported.
Sources in the Muftis Council of Russia specified that the opening will be held ahead of Muslim holiday of Sacrifice.
Delegations of Turkey, India, Chad, Sudan, Libya and Iraq were first to confirm their participation.
Most heads of the Islamic countries watched the construction of the mosque. Turkish side made its significant contribution: the mosque was painted by artists from this country.
Moscow cathedral mosque is the largest in Europe. It covers an area of about 19,000 square meters. It will have six layers. Along with the player halls for men and women, the mosque will have a conference hall and an exhibition gallery.
