Indonesia Int’l Quran Contest to Kick off Tomorrow

TEHRAN (IQNA) – The opening ceremony of this year’s international Quran competition in Indonesia will be held in the capital city of Jakarta on Tuesday, September 1.

 Iran’s representatives in the contest Mahmoud Noruzi and Javad Soleimani arrived in Jakarta on Sunday morning.

Noruzi told IQNA that they have been told about the timing of the opening ceremony but have not yet received any information about the competition’s regulations.

He will compete in the recitation category while Soleimani will represent Iran in memorization of the entire Quran.

The Islamic Republic also has a representative in the competition’s panel of judges.

Iranian Quran master Abdul Rasul Abayi has been invited to serve as a member of the panel.

Indonesia’s international Quran competition will run until September 5.
