Quran reciters from the host country and the Philippines came first and second, respectively.
The international contest began in the Indonesian capital of Jakarta on Tuesday, September 1.
Quran memorizers and Qaris from 21 countries, including Thailand, Iran, Morocco, Singapore, Saudi Arabia, Algeria, Tunisia, Britain, the US, France, Jordan and Belgium took part in the international Quranic event.
Top winners of the two categories of the competition will be awarded in a ceremony after Friday prayers on September 4.
