United States’ Nat'l Qira’at Competition Underway in Rosemont, IL

TEHRAN (IQNA) – The Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) is hosting the National Qira’at Competition during its 52nd Annual Convention on September 4 –7, 2015 at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center, Rosemont, IL.

 The competition is held in the categories of memorization of the entire Holy Quran, memorization of 15 consecutive parts (juz’) from beginning or end of Quran, memorization of 5 consecutive parts (juz’) from beginning or end of Quran and also reading of the entire Quran with proper Tajweed (Advanced), ISNA's website reported.

 

Three top ranking participants will receive gifts, cash awards and certificates.


Qualified Scholars of Tajweed Al-Quran from Glorious Quran Memorization (GQMA) will judge the recitations.

 

The 52nd Annual Convention of Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) is underway in Chicago to discuss ways of strengthening the Muslim presence in America.

 

“This year's theme is ‘Stories of Resilience: Strengthening the American Muslim Narrative’ and will showcase stories of unsung heroes in our community as well as success stories of families, masjids and community initiatives,” said ISNA in a statement.

 

The convention, which kicked off on Friday at Chicago’s Donald E. Stephens Convention Center, is one of the biggest Islamic gatherings in North America.

 

The convention is packed with plenary sessions to be addressed by prominent Muslim speakers and includes workshops on a variety of topics.

 

An Islamic Film Festival, an Art and Photography Exhibit, a Matrimonial Banquet, a women’s Fashion Show, Meet the Author sessions and Health Fair will be held during the gathering. There is also a bazaar and trade show with 500 vendors.
