TEHRAN (IQNA) - Community members stood in support of the Islamic Society of South Texas Saturday afternoon after hearing about a planned anti-Islam rally that was reportedly to take place outside of their mosque.

Anti-Islam rallies were said to be taking place at mosques across the US this weekend and there were reports that protesters were encouraged to carry weapons.

In Corpus Christi, protesters were a no-show.
Who did show up, were people who wanted to show support for the Islamic Society.

Police were also alerted about the possible protest and were on hand just in case to keep the peace.

Also a Grand Junction group protested outside of the Islamic center of Grand Junction to promote love and equality in the face of anti-Islamic threats.

A group of 50 peace keepers gathered in front of the Islamic center of Grand Junction to spread the word of love, not hate.

According to organizers of the peaceful protest, a group with anti-Islamic beliefs called Global Rally for Humanity had made a Facebook event with the intention of rallying outside the Islamic center.

The event was taken down earlier in the week but more than 50 people still stood outside the Islamic center this morning with a positive message for all who drove by.

Local "Rally for Humanity" supporters did not show up outside the Islamic center.

About a dozen people, some armed with rifles, showed up for an anti-Islam rally Saturday afternoon in Dearborn, outnumbered by two groups of counterprotesters.

The anti-Islam protesters, were met with two groups who opposed their message and expressed solidarity with Muslims.
