“We learned the lesson of resistance from Imam Hussein (AS),” he added in a televised speech on the occasion of Ashura, al-Alam news network reported.
Al-Houthi referred to the resistance of the Yemeni people against the months-long Saudi-led aggression of the country, saying that just like Imam Hussein (AS) who did not yield to the oppression of Yazid, the tyrant of the time, the Yemeni nation will not remain silent over the aggression.
No matter how long the aggression lasts, he said, the resolve of Yemeni to defend their country against aggressors will not decline.
He went on to say that the Saudi-led attacks on Yemen are carried out on US orders, adding that Riyadh seeks to occupy Yemen to turn it into a place fit for US and Zionist activities.
On March 26, Saudi Arabia and some of its Arab allies, including the UAE, began to launch deadly airstrikes against the Houthi Ansarullah movement in an attempt to restore power to the fugitive former President Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi, a close ally of Riyadh.
More than 5400 people, many of them children and women, have been killed in the Saudi-led aggression against the Arab country so far.
