Saudi Arabia’s Int’l Quran Competition to Conclude Today

TEHRAN (IQNA) – The 37th edition of international competition on Quran memorization, recitation and interpretation in Saudi Arabia will conclude today, November 10.


According to source-7.com, the final stage of the competition will be held today evening in Masjid Al-Haram in the holy city of Mecca.





The Quranic event titled Malik Abdulaziz competition is annually held by the country’s Ministry of Awqaf, Islamic Affairs and Dissemination.





124 representatives from 66 countries have participated in this edition of the competition which started on November 7.





The organizing committee of the competition announced that top participants are qualified to register and study at the Islamic University of Medina.





The four categories of the competition include memorization of the entire Quran with Tajweed principles and interpretation of Quranic terms, memorization of the entire Quran with Tajweed, memorization of 15 Juzes (parts) of Quran with Tajweed and memorization of 5 Juzes with Tajweed.





The jury panel of the competition is headed by Ahmed bin Ali bin Abdullah Al-Sudais, dean of the Quran Faculty of the Islamic University of Medina.





Nasir bin Saud Al-Quthami, deputy of Theology Faculty of Taif University, Khalid bin Ali Muhammad Darbani, head of the Quran Recitation Section of the Quranic School of Algerian Muslim Scholars, Muhammad Nasir Uthman Saktu, lecturer of Al-Sultan Muhammad Mathtu Quranic Research Center in Nigeria and Abdul Karim Zakariya Harun, assistant to the Director General of the Islamic Affairs in Malaysia are members of the jury panel of the competition.





The secretariat of the competition has published a booklet including the names of top participants as well as the members of jury panels in 36 previous editions of the international Quranic event.





The special issue of the 37th edition of the competition titled “Al-Duwaliyya” has also been published by the secretariat.





The sixth course on “Judgment skills” which was held on the sidelines of the competition will also conclude today.





It was attended by 21 jury members of Quran competitions and Quranic and religious experts from 22 countries.
