Sharm el-Sheikh to Host Egypt’s Int’l Quran Competition

TEHRAN (IQNA) – The 23rd edition of the international Quran competition in Egypt will be organized in Sharm el-Sheikh in South Sinai Governorate.


According to Al-Youm Al-Sabi’, the Egypt’s Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs will hold the Quranic event in the coastal city with the aim of developing religious tourism in the region.





Although a number of terrorist attacks have happened in the region, it is a holiday resort and significant center for tourism in Egypt and the objective of the ministry is to stress the security in the city.





The competition will be held in four categories including memorization of the entire Quran with observation of Telawat principles and Quranic sciences and memorization of the first 15 juzes (parts) of the Quran with Telawat principles for non-Arabic speakers.





The participants should be less than 25 years old and they should not be among the first rank winners of the previous international Quran competitions.





The third category of the competition will be the memorization of the entire Quran for teenagers who are less than 12 years of age.





Memorization of three Juzes of the Quran is the fourth category of the competition planned for the disabled participants aged less than 21.
