Int’l Art Exhibition on Imam Hussein’s (AS) Uprising Held in Najaf

TEHRAN (IQNA) – The 3rd international exhibition of artworks featuring different aspects of Imam Hussein’s (AS) uprising was held in the holy city of Najaf.

According to non14.net, "Innovation on the Path of Imam Hussein (AS)” was the title of the exhibition, organized on the path of pilgrims marching toward the holy city of Karbala ahead of Arbaeen.


Faris Haram, head of the Union of Writers in the holy city of Najaf, a number of eminent artists, officials and representatives of different countries as well as pilgrims visited the exhibition.


Sarmad Al-Na’imi, the head of the organizing committee of the exhibition, said that its main objective was to promote the message of the Imam’s uprising through the beauty of art and introduce it to the world, particularly the European societies.


Artworks by representatives of 12 countries including Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Iran, India, Pakistan, England, Russia, Kuwait, Lebanon, Turkey and Algeria were displayed at the exhibition.


Photos, calligraphy works, paintings, statues and digital products were among the artworks presented by 150 artists.


Ali Al-Hisani, Iraqi calligrapher, described the exhibition as a great step in disseminating the noble objectives of the Ashura uprising through arts.

 Each year, millions of pilgrims march to Iraq’s holy city of Karbala to mark Arbaeen, the 40th day after the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (AS) and his companions in the 680 AD battle of Karbala.

 

  This year, Arbaeen falls on Wednesday, December 2.
