Iran’s Nat’l Quran Contest; Winners of Several Categories Awarded

TEHRAN (IQNA) – Winners of the 38th National Quran Competition of the Islamic Republic of Iran in several categories were awarded in a ceremony Monday night.

The competition began in the western city of Kermanshah on Saturday and contenders in other categories continue their contest.


Top winners in Tarteel recitation of the Quran as well as memorization of 10 and 20 Juzes received their awards at the ceremony, which was addressed by Hojat-ol-Islam Hosseini Araki, the director of Kermanshah province’s Awqaf and Charity Affairs Department and Hojat-ol-Islam Seyed Mostafa Hosseini, the head of Awqaf Organization’s Quranic Affairs Center.


In his address, Hojat-ol-Islam Hosseini described the competition as an opportunity for promoting the Quranic atmosphere in society and spending more time with the Book of God.


He also noted that identifying the country’s top Quranic talents are among the objectives of the national Quranic event.


More than 630 Quran reciters and memorizers from different parts of the country are attending the week-long competition.


40 Quranic workshops and 86 Quran recitation programs are also being held on the sidelines of the event.
