TEHRAN (IQNA) – Participants in the 29th International Islamic Unity Conference in Tehran underlined the need for the Muslim world to employ its potentials and capabilities for development and progress rather than conflicts among Muslim countries.

Issuing a statement at the closing ceremony of the conference on Tuesday, they regretted that oil revenues of certain countries are being used for killing Muslims, fomenting discord and hatching conspiracies against the Islamic resistance.

The statement reiterated that attempts to split up Islamic countries pose the main threat in the Muslim world.

It also referred to the violence and terrorism currently plaguing parts of the Muslim world as being part of a conspiracy to distort the image of Islam and pave the ground for foreign interference in the affairs of Muslims.

The statement further said the issue of Palestine remains the top priority for the Muslim world and that the Zionist regime of Israel is the main source of crises in the region.

It called on all Palestinian groups to put their differences aside and stand united against the common enemy, namely the Zionist regime.

The statement also warned against the situation in countries like Syria, Yemen and Iraq, calling for mobilization of all capacities and potentials to prevent further destruction and disintegration of these countries.

The participants in the conference went on to say that the only path to confront the current crises is resistance against the enemies and cooperation among Muslim countries.

The 29th International Islamic Unity Conference was held in the Iranian capital on December 27-29 with the participation of scholars and thinkers from over 70 countries.

They discussed ways to enhance Muslim unity as well as settlement of the current crises facing the Islamic world.
