According to the Iranian Cultural Center in Kabul, the Supreme Quran Council of Afghanistan organized the competition with the participation of 200 Quran students of the city.
The participants competed on Tarteel, Tajweed and Tahghigh recitation of the Quran.
Speaking at the Quranic program, Hojat-ol-Islam Abbas Hassanzade, head of the council, stressed the importance of learning and teaching the Quran.
He referred to a Hadith by Imam Sadeq (AS) which says "When a believer reads the Quran in his youth, it will be blended with his flesh and blood” and added that it shows how great Muslims' responsibility is in teaching the Quran to the younger generation.
He went on to say that reading the Quran's verses and contemplating its teachings will result in one’s awareness and noted that it is necessary today to be aware in order to take steps on the right path, which is the path of Quran and Ahlul-Bayt (AS).
