Al-Azhar Quran Scholar Dies
TEHRAN (IQNA) – A Quran interpretation and sciences scholar of Egypt’s Al-Azhar Islamic Center died on Friday.
Masmu Abutalib died after delivering Friday prayers sermons at Al-Iwazi Mosque in the city of Giza, some 20 km southwest of Cairo.
He had been suffering from an illness for a long time, the vetogate website reported.
Abutalib was transferred to a military hospital after his conditions deteriorated following the Friday prayers.
The Quran scholar died in the hospital later on Friday evening.
His funeral is scheduled to be held today in his hometown in Damietta Governorate, northeastern part of the country.
Masmu Abutalib was as a senior scholar in the field of Quran commentary and was known for his distinctive style of interpretation of the Quran.
