Nat’l Quran Competition Concludes in Tehran

TEHRAN (IQNA) – The 9th Quran competition of the Imam Ali (AS) Dar-ol-Quran Center concluded on January 29 in a ceremony with the participation of eminent Quran activists in Tehran.

The ceremony was also attended by senior cleric Ayatollah Seyyed Hashim Rasuli Mahallati, member of parliament Laleh Eftekhari, head of the Quran and Etrat Fraction of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, Mahdi Qarasheikhlu, head of the Dar-ol-Quran Al-Karim Organization, among others.

Seyyed Mustafa Husseini, the first rank winner of the competition, recited some verses of the Holy Quran at the beginning of the program.

It continued with a message by Grand Ayatollah Nuri Hamedani, which was read out by Morteza Najafi Qodsi, the director of the Imam Ali (AS) Dar-ol-Quran.

He said that 2600 Quran memorizers and reciters from different parts of Iran participated in this edition of the Quranic event.

He added that 310 of the participants registered in the category of memorization of the entire Quran, 256 in memorization of 20 Juzes (parts) of the Quran, 450 in memorization of ten Juzes, 440 in memorization of 5 Juzes, 250 in memorization of two Juzes, 260 in Tarteel recitation, and 525 in Tahqiq recitation.

The director of the center also said that the Imam Ali (AS) Dar-ol-Quran center has 37 branches in different provinces of the country and has succeeded to train 18500 Quran students so far.

Qarasheikhlu, head of the judging board of the competition, also addressed the program, saying that because of the large number of participants the competition was supervised by 40 Quran experts in 9 groups.

He also underlined the necessity to pay attention to the Quranic principles and teachings and disseminate them in the society and invite people to make use of the teachings in their lives, in other words to promote the Islamic-Quranic life-style in the society.

Mohammad Ansari, founder of the Dar-ol-Quran also presented a speech in the ceremony and expressed hope that the organization of such competitions would be influential in dissemination of Quranic culture in the society.

He stressed that Quran memorizers and reciters can play an important role in the development of Quran teaching in the society.

Eftekhari was the other speaker in the program who said that the victory of the Islamic Revolution was a manifestation of acting upon the Quranic teachings, the fulfillment of the Quranic culture and the belief in the promises of Quran.

The contest was held for two age groups of under 16 and adults on January 25-29, and the winners were awarded at the end of the ceremony.
