This is according to the Southeast Asian country's Federal Territories Minister Adnan Tengku Mansor who said the government had organised Quran recital competitions every year since independence from the district to the international levels to uphold Islam.

"For this reason the Putrajaya Parliament has
implemented the Secondary Schools Iqra Tahsin Program since 2014 including
Putrajaya Level Quran Recital Competition which is held Tuesday.
"We implement all these in the hope of
turning out a young generation who is Quran-savvy," he said in his speech
when closing the third Putrajaya Zone Quran Recital Competition at the Putra
Mosque.
Also present was Putrajaya Corporation president
Datuk Seri Hasim Ismail and Federal Territory Islamic Religious Department
director Pamuzi Yahya.
Tengku Adnan said in facing the challenges of the
new millennium, Muslims in the country must master knowledge to turn out
excellent human beings to simultaneously increase the number of scholars in all
disciplines including religion.
As such, he said the existing opportunities must
be taken advantage of in the best possible manner to be adroit in making use of
technology specifically via the existence of the application Al-Quran digital
so it could be read anywhere.
Zainuddin Abd. Rahman, 46, and Zaharah Ahmad, 55,
emerged champions in the competitions in their respective categories and
winning cash RM3,000 and a certificate each.
