He made the remark in a
meeting of the policy-making council for cultural capital of Muslim world on
Thursday.
Mashhad has been named by
the Islamic Educational, Scientific
and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) as the cultural capital of Islamic World in
2017.
Jannati said the
government plans to allocate funds to the Mashhad 2017 project and will
facilitate investment of the private sector through banking finances.

According to the minister, naming Mashhad as the
cultural capital of Islamic World will provide an opportunity to introduce the
Iranian culture and traditions and promote interaction with Muslim countries.
ISESCO selects three
Islamic cities, representing the Arab, African and Asian regions, as the cultural
capitals of the Muslim world every year.
