TEHRAN (IQNA) – Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei stressed that the Iranian people will demonstrate their power to the enemy by massively taking part in Friday’s elections.

Addressing thousands of people from the central city of Najafabad on Wednesday, Ayatollah Khamenei added that high turnout in the elections would show the enemy the greatness of the Islamic Revolution.

"The enemy will see that after 37 years (since the Islamic Revolution’s victory), and despite all the pressures, unjust sanctions and ill-intentioned propaganda, it has failed to prevent people’s allegiance with the Establishment.”

The Leader further warned against enemy plots regarding the upcoming polls and their attempts at infiltrating the country.

His Eminence also said that the Iranian people want a Majlis (parliament) that is courageous, devoted and faithful, is not deceived by the enemy, and attaches importance to the country’s dignity and independence.

Iranians will go to the polls on Friday to decide on 290 seats for the parliament as well as 88 senior clerics for the Assembly of Experts.

Members of the Assembly are elected every eight years. This will be the first time the two polls coincide.

Since the Islamic Revolution, Iran has organized more than 30 votes at the national level.
