Plan for Training Quran Memorizers Kicks off in Tunisia

TEHRAN (IQNA) – Tunisia’s religious affairs minister said a plan for training 100,000 memorizers of the Holy Quran has started in the country.

Mohamed Khalil said implementing the plan has begun in Nabeul governorate and will soon reach other governorates, tunisien.tn website reported.

He said selection of Nabeul was the first governorate to implement the Quranic initiative was because of its long and bright history of Quranic activities.

He made the remarks in a visit to Nabeul.

According to the minister, 100,000 Tunisians will learn the Holy Quran by heart via this plan.

Khalil paid visits to a number of mosques, Quranic centers and Quranic societies in the province during his trip.

He underlined the role of such centers in promoting memorization of the Quran among the youth.

He also voiced his ministry’s readiness to help the centers with the aim of fostering the Quranic culture in society.
