Senegalese Quran Activists to Attend Iran’s Int’l Quran Competitions

TEHRAN (IQNA) – Iranian Cultural Center in Senegal is ready to dispatch top Senegalese Quran memorizers and reciters to Iran to participate in its international Quran competitions.

According to the website of the center, Seyyed Hassan Esmati, Iranian cultural attaché in Senegal attended a meeting with Sheikh Ahmad Tijani, caliph of Tijaniyyah School in Kaolack region, 200 kilometer from Dakar.

The Iranian official in this meeting said the cultural center is ready to send Senegalese Quran activists to Iran for Quranci events.

He also voiced the center's keenness to cooperate with the school to conduct joint religious activities and translate the written works of Tijaniyyah school into Persian.

Sheikh Ahmad Tijani, for his part, expressed his willingness to cooperate with the center and said that the school has a long-lasting relation with Iran.

Abbas Mo’taqedi, director of Al-Mustafa International University’s branch in Senegal, who was also present at the meeting stressed the unity of the Islamic Ummah and said that Sufi schools in Senegal are the honor of the Muslim world.

The Iranian cultural attaché also attended the prayer for the late brother of the caliph and visited the Fatima Al-Zahra (SA) Husseiniya (public religious center) in Kaolack.
