Student Quran Competition Held in Iraq

TEHRAN (IQNA) – This year's edition of an annual Quran memorization and recitation competition for school students was organized in Basra Province of Iraq.


According to Qaaf news agency, the Education Section of Zubair city of the province held the competition in cooperation with the Iraqi Institute of Moderation and Development and Basra Quran Activists Association.

"The best among you are those who learn the Quran and teach it”, which is a Nabawi Hadith, was the motto of this year’s competition.

Girls and boys from elementary, secondary and high schools of various parts of the province participated in the Quranic event.

Imam Reza (AS) Quranic School and Baqiyyatullah Quranic Center in Zubair city also cooperated in holding the competition.

The students competed in Quran recitation, memorization of 3 Juzes and one Juz (part) of the Quran and three top participants were awarded.

The contest was supervised by Ali Abbas, Al-Jouzani, Muayyid Naim Muhammad Amin Ziya, Abu Ja’far Sharifi.

The judging board of the competition was headed by Quran expert Ja’far Kazim. Two Quran experts from the Endowments Office of Sunni Muslims in Zubair city were also among the judges of the competition.
