Contestants from 18 provinces of the African country are attending the Quranic event, which will run for 5 days.

A number of government official and religious figures, including the mayor of Mogadishu, and deputy minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs attended the opening ceremony yesterday.
Addressing the ceremony, Muhammad Abdul Ghani Sidhu, head of the Ishraq Society, described holding Quran competitions as a means to promote the Quran in society, especially among the youth.
