Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and a number of other high-ranking officials were present at the opening ceremony held at Tehran’s Pardisan Park.
The two-day seminar, which seeks to promote peace and freedom in the world, has been organized by Iran’s Environmental Protection Organization in cooperation with the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) and UNESCO.
With the motto of promoting intercultural dialogue for sustainable development, it aims to convey this message to the world that dialogue is the foundation of any kind of common understanding among human beings, societies, cultures and religions.
It is in line with the general environmental policies set by Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei.
Experts, scholars and religious figures from 15 countries and different religious backgrounds, including Islam, Christianity, Catholicism, Hinduism, Zoroastrianism, Judaism, and Buddhism are taking part at the seminar.
They will discuss, among other things, how religion and culture can help the protection and improvement of the environment.
