
According to Qaaf news agency, the program was organized by Iraq’s Union of Quranic Societies and supported by Wasit governor general’s office.
Qaris from various Iraqi provinces, including Wasit, Dhi Qar, Najaf, Nineveh, and Basra took part in the recitation session.
A documentary featuring efforts to develop Quranic activities in Wasit province was also screened at the program.
Addressing the event, Malik Khalf al-Wadi, Wasit province’s governor general, noted that a large number of Quranic centers have been launched in the province.
He added that holding Quranic courses and competitions are among other efforts made to promote the Quranic culture in the province.
Quranic activities have significantly grown in Iraq since the 2003 overthrow of former dictator Saddam Hussein.
