Winners of the award were announced and awarded in a ceremony held in Tehran Sunday.
The top winners in the two categories of the contest, film and photography, were from Iraq, Iran, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Syria.
More than 3000 photos had been submitted to the secretariat of the competition, 60 of which made it to the final round.
ICRO annually holds the international competition to highlight the Arbaeen pilgrimage which marks the 40th day after the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (AS) and his household in Karbala.
Every year a large number of pilgrims converge on the holy city of Karbala on the day of Arbaeen.
In the past few years, the number was estimated to be more than 20 million.
On this day, Shia Muslims all over the world mourn the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (AS) and his companions.
