Nat’l Quran Competition for University Students Held in Karbala

TEHRAN (IQNA) – The first edition of a national Quran competition for students of universities in Iraq was organized by the Dar-ol-Quran Center of Imam Hussein (AS) holy shrine in Karbala.

According to the website of the center, it was held under the supervision of the Quranic Committee affiliated to the Astan (custodianship) of the holy shrines of Imam Hussein (AS) and Hazrat Abbas (AS).

The Islamic Sciences Faculty of Karbala University also cooperated in holding the Quranic event for students of 20 universities in different provinces of the country.

Disseminating the Quranic culture among university students was the main objective of the contest.

It was held with a number of academic figures including dean of the faculties and presidents of universities as well as Iraqi religious personalities in attendance.

The student groups competed in Quran memorization, recitation, interpretation and Quranic sciences.

The team of Karbala University won the first rank and those from Al-Qadisiyah and Al-Furat Al-Awsat universities respectively came second and third.
