Tehran Int’l Book Fair Gets Underway

TEHRAN (IQNA) – The 29th edition of Tehran International Book Fair was opened in a ceremony here in the Iranian capital on Tuesday.
 

The ceremony was attended by Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani, Culture Minister Ali Jannati, Tehran’s Mayor Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf and a number of other officials.

In his address, the president thanked the organizers of the cultural event and the foreign countries participating in the book fair.

Jannati in his speech noted that 2400 Iranian publishing houses and 300 publishers from other countries have showcased their books in 2500 pavilions at the book fair.

He said that a total of 160,000 titles have been presented in this year’s event by Iranian and foreign publishers.

Jannati also noted that Russia is the book fair’s especial guest this year.

The Shahre Aftab, a newly-constructed fairground in southern Tehran, is hosting the international book fair for the first time.

The international cultural event is annually held by Iran’s ministry of culture and Islamic guidance.
