This is according to Hojat-ol-Islam Mohammadi, head of Iran’s Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization, which annually holds the contest.
Speaking at a press conference in Tehran on Monday, he said 130 Quran memorizers and reciters will attend the international Quranic event.
They are from 32 African countries, 23 Asian countries, 20 countries in Europe, 2 countries in Americas and one in Oceania, he stated.
The competition, whose motto is "One Book, One Ummah”, will kick off in Tehran on Wednesday, May 11 and run until Tuesday, May 17, the official said.

Hojat-ol-Islam Mohammadi described the Quran competition as one of the main Quranic activities of the Islamic Republic of Iran, stressing that the country pays special attention to Quranic activities and promotion of the Quranic culture.
Until last year, the Islamic Summit Hall in northern Tehran hosted the annual competition but this year’s edition will be held at the Imam Khomeini (RA) Mosalla (prayer hall).
The international Quranic event convenes Quran reciters and memorizers from around the Muslim world every year.
In 2015, 67 Quran reciters and 62 memorizers from 81 countries took part in the 32nd edition of the contest on May 15-22.
22 Quran experts from Iran and other countries formed the jury panel of the contest.
