Iran’s Valizadeh, Fard Fani Finish 1st in 33rd Int’l Quran Contest

TEHRAN (IQNA) – The jury panel of Iran’s 33rd International Holy Quran Competition announced the winners of the two categories of the contest.


According to the announcement, Iranian Qari Hamed Valizadeh bagged the top prize in the recitation category of the event.

Mohammad Javid Akbari from Afghanistan came second and the third title went to Bahre Al Din Saeed from Indonesia.

Syed Abbas Ali from Germany and Mustafa Ali from the Netherlands won the fourth and fifth ranks respectively.

In memorization, too, Iran’s representative Mojtaba Fard Fani finished first.

He was followed by Abdul Aziz Ahmed from Egypt and Muhammad Ali Abdullah from Australia.

Khalid Sankari from Ivory Coast and Muhammad Taha Hassan from Niger respectively came fourth and fifth.

The international competition kicked off at Tehran’s Imam Khomeini (RA) Mosalla (prayer hall) on Wednesday.

Quran memorizers and reciters from over 70 countries attended the international Quranic event, whose motto was "One Book, One Ummah”.
