TEHRAN (IQNA) – In the holy month of Ramadan Quran memorizers are in demand across India.

As it is considered auspicious to hear the Quran verses from a hafiz (memorizer) during Ramadan, more than 200 of them from Bareilly, in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, have already been invited to different parts of the country.

Two of them will be going to Kathmandu and Dubai during Ramadan for reciting verses of the Holy Book. Most of them are pursuing their studies at madrassas in Bareilly.

Nasir Qureshi, media coordinator at Jamiatur Raza madrassa, said, "As the pronunciation of hafiz who have studied in madrassas of Bareilly is considered good, they are invited to recite Quran in different parts of the country during Ramadan." This time, more than 200 hafiz from Bareilly have been invited to recite Quran in different parts of India. Some had been invited to go abroad but only two would be going as others had to cancel their visit because of visa related problems," he added.

Hafiz Naseem-ul Qadri, 24, who is pursuing fazil course from a Bareilly-based madrassa will be soon leaving for Dubai. He said, "I have travelled to many places, including Mauritius, Hyderabad and southern cities of the country, for reciting Quran during Ramadan. It is always a nice experience to meet people and learn about their culture. People in some countries lack proper information on religious matters and prefer to invite hafiz from India." He added that he has done a special course on how to speak English at his madrassa so that he does not face any inconvenience in speaking with people abroad.

Similarly, 30-year-old hafiz Asif Noori, who is also a student of Jamiatur Raza madrassa, will make his first trip to Kathmandu on June 5 for reciting Quran for a month there. "It is good for both those who recite Quran and those who listen to it during Ramadan. We also get to interact with other clerics during the month," said he. "Though the organizer takes care of our travel, accommodation and food, there is no fixed remuneration for the work. It depends on the people inviting us and they can give any gift to a hafiz," he added.
