Committee to Select Qaris for Ramadan Sessions at Imam Hussein (AS) Holy Shrine

TEHRAN (IQNA) – The Dar-ol-Quran Center of the Astan (custodianship) of Imam Hussein (AS) holy shrine in Karbala, Iraq, has formed a committee of experts to evaluate and select Qaris for Tarteel Quran recitation sessions in the holy month of Ramadan.

According to the website of the center, the Quran reading sessions are held at the shrine during the holy month every year and it is among the annual activities of the center to select skillful Qaris for the programs.

Ali Al-Khafaji, head of the committee, said that it will select 43 top Qaris from among those willing to participate in the sessions.

Besides them, some prominent Qaris of the Astan and the Muslim world will also recite the Divine verses in the Ramadan programs, he added.

Al-Khafaji said that a number of Iraqi Quran experts, including Yahya Al-Sahaf and Muhammad Sabah Al-Hindawi, are members of the committee.

The number of Quranic verses each of the Qaris will recite at the sessions will also be determined by the committee based on the qualifications and skills of the Qaris in Tajweed principles.
