TEHRAN (IQNA) – The 15th congress for honoring Iran’s veteran Quran activists was held in Tehran earlier this week.

Titled "A Lifetime with the Quran”, it was attended by Tehran Mayor Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf and a number of Quranic, religious and cultural officials.

The event began with recitation of verses from the Quran by prominent Qari Mohammad Hassan Movahedi followed by speeches by Qalibaf, Hojat-ol-Islam Nasseripour, Tehran municipality’s cultural-art deputy, and a number of others.

Later in the program, veteran Quran activists including Seyed Abbas Mirdamad, Ahad Asl Mohammadi, Rahim Qorbani, Mohammad Hossein Latifi, and Maryam Hajabdolbaqi received certificates of honor and were lauded for their service to the Holy Quran.

The congress is annually held by Tehran Municipality in the middle of the holy month of Ramadan.
