According to Qaaf news agency, the "Imamayn Javadayn” Grand Mosque hosted the ceremony, which was organized in cooperation with a number of Iraqi top Qaris.

The program was attended by the custodian of the holy shrines in Iraq, adviser to the chief of Iraqi Shias Endowments Office, as well as adviser to the governor of Baghdad and some of the religious figures and representatives of Iraqi organizations.

Six Quran reciters competed in the final stage of the competition in three days and three were announced as the top winners.

Kazimayn is among the holiest cities in Shia Islam. It received its name from the two Shia Imams buried there: Imam Musa Kazim (AS) and Imam Muhammad Taqi (AS).

Quranic activities have significantly grown in Iraq since the 2003 overthrow of former dictator Saddam Hussein.
