Young Iraqi Honored for Memorizing Entire Quran in 4 Months
Hussein Abid al-Jafari managed to memorize the Quran by attending an intensive Quranic plan named "1000 Quran Memorizers” organized by the Astan (custodianship) of the holy shrine, the website of the Astan reported.
According to Sheikh Fazel al-Tamimi, his instructor, al-Jafari began by memorizing three pages of the Holy Book every day but managed to speed up his pace and reach a 20-page-a-day record.
The "1000 Quran Memorizers” plan is one of the major Quranic programs of the Astan of Imam Hussein (AS) holy shrine.
Based on the plan, a special committee affiliated to the Astan’s Dar-ol-Quran center travel to different parts of Iraq to identify Quranic talents and help them learn the Quran by heart.
It is aimed at training Quran memorizers to represent the Arab country in international Quranic events.
