Iran, Iraq Sign MoU to Promote Islamic Human Rights

TEHRAN (IQNA) – Iran’s Judiciary Chief Ayatollah Sadeq Amoli Larijani said that during his trip to Iraq the two countries signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on, among other things, global promotion of Islamic Human rights.

Speaking to reporters at Tehran’s Mehrabad Airport upon his return on Friday night, Ayatollah Larijani said the document also includes cooperation in the fight against terrorism and efforts to combat drug smugglers, Fars reported.

He noted that during his visit, he and his accompanying judiciary delegation met with a number of Iraqi judicial officials as well as grand source of emulation Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani.

Ayatollah Larijani went on to say that the two countries are resolved to develop ties in various fields.

The judiciary chief had started his official trip to Iraq last Saturday to hold talks with senior officials of the Arab country on a range of issues, including ways to boost cooperation between the two neighbors in judicial fields.
