TEHRAN (IQNA) – Sudan’s minister of Awqaf (endowments) and guidance said it has seized 1875 copies of the Quran containing printing errors.

According to al-Yawm al-Sabi, Ammar Mirghani said the copies have been confiscated in different provinces of the country.

He made the remark while presenting a report to parliament on his ministry’s activities and its plans for the coming year.

Mirghani added that the ministry has also ordered publications to stop printing and selling Quran copies printed in a style known as narration of Dawri from Abi Amru.

He said the decision was made because the copies have errors in them.

The minister went on to say that steps have been taken to draft a law on formation of a committee to supervise printing and publication of the Quran.

The Republic of the Sudan, is a country in northeastern Africa.

Muslims, including numerous Arab and non-Arab groups, make up some 97 percent of the country’s population of around 38 million.
