Islamic Proximity Has Become Main Current in Muslim World
Speaking at a seminar in Mumbai, India, on Thursday, Ayatollah Mohsen Araki stressed that it has happened thanks to the efforts made by Muslim world scholars who favor unity.
The seminar was held under the title of "Islamic Unity and Strategies for Creating Unity” with the participation of Sunni and Shia scholars.
Ayatollah Araki added that unity among Muslims not only brings about dignity, security and welfare but also protects the identity of the Islamic Ummah.
He cited a verse from the Holy Quran and said that according to the verse, if Muslims turn to disunity, they have disobeyed the Holy Prophet (PBUH).
Elsewhere, the senior cleric highlighted the efforts made by the Islamic Republic of Iran to enhance Muslim unity.
He said one of the main duties of the Islamic Republic, according to its Constitution, is doing its outmost to promote unity among Muslims.
That is why, he said, Leader of the Islamic Revolution ordered the establishment of the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought 25 years ago.
Ayatollah Araki noted that during these years, the forum has
implemented various activities aimed at strengthening Islamic unity.
