The event is presented by the University of Notre Dame theology department in collaboration with Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, co-sponsored by the Notre Dame Medieval institute.
According to the website of the university’s department of theology, in recent decades the Catholic Church has grown increasingly committed to Christian Muslim relations.
At this symposium the intersections between the scripture of Islam, the Quran, and Catholic theology will be discussed and the content of the Quran (and in particular its Biblical accounts), the history of Christian commentary on the Quran, and new directions in Catholic theology will be explored.
There will be two panels: reflections on the Quranic message and the Quran and Muslim-Christian dialogue.
Scholars from Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, University of Notre Dame, University of Warsaw and Villanova University will discuss interesting topics at the event.
