TEHRAN (IQNA) – An Iraqi political analyst said Iran’s Islamic Revolution was in continuation of the movement of Imam Hussein (AS).

Speaking to IQNA, Mohammad Ali al-Hakim described the Islamic Revolution, which was led to victory by the late founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Imam Khomeini (RA), as a historic achievement.

He added that the victory of the revolution in 1979 was the most important development in contemporary history.

Al-Hakim stressed that Arab nations see a bright future for the Islamic Revolution, given its resistance against enemies.

Elsewhere, he highlighted the important effects the victory of the revolution had on the issue of Palestine, saying that before the revolution, Palestine had almost been forgotten.

He noted that the Islamic Republic of Iran has demonstrated continual support for the issue of Palestine since its establishment.

The movement of Imam Khomeini taught everyone the lesson of bravery and steadfastness, he said, adding that the movement "taught us how to stand up to a barbaric enemy like Israel that is committed to no ethical value or principle.”

Al-Hakim also praised Imam Khomeini (RA) for standing up against the United States, something no Arab or Muslim government had dared to do.

Al-Hakim’s remarks came as millions of Iranians poured into the streets in cities all across the country on Friday to celebrate the 38th anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution.

The Iranian nation toppled the US-backed Pahlavi regime 38 years ago, ending the 2,500 years of monarchic rule in the country.

The Islamic Revolution, spearheaded by the late Imam Khomeini, established a new political system based on Islamic values and democracy.
