TEHRAN (IQNA) – The 14th edition of Algeria international Quran competition will begin on the 22nd day of Ramadan (June 17).

53 Countries to Attend Algeria Int’l Quran Contest


According to Radio Algeria, Nureddin Muhammadi, an official with the North African country’s Awqaf and Religious Affairs Ministry, said representatives of 53 countries will compete in the international Quranic event.

He said the Al-Sinubar al-Bahri hall in the capital city, Algiers, will host the contest.

It will be held in the categories of Quran memorization, Tajweed recitation and Quran interpretation, he said.

The Islamic Republic of Iran will be represented in the competition by Mohammad Ali Eslami.

He will compete in the category of memorization of the entire Quran.

Eslami will be accompanied in his trip to Algeria by Quran master Mohammad Ali Sotudenia.

Sotudenia will guide Eslami for having the best performance in the contest.

They will leave Tehran for Algiers on Friday.

Last year, Iran’s Rasoul Takbiri failed to win any titles in the competition.

The international Quran contest has been organized in Algeria every year since 2003 and is sponsored by Algeria President Abdelaziz Bouteflika.
