Seyed Mohammad Baqer Pishnamazi, the head of Friday Prayers Headquarters in the Iranian capital, said the Eid prayer will be held at the Imam Khomeini (RA) Mosalla (prayer hall) on Monday.
That is if the holy month of Ramadan ends on Sunday. In case this year’s Ramadan is 29 days, not 30 days, it will end on Saturday and the Eid will fall on Sunday.
Tehran’s public transportation fleet will be operative since early morning to the noon to freely transfer the multitude of pious worshippers from different parts of the city to the Mosalla for Eid prayers, Pishnamazi noted.
The first day of the month of Shawwal on the lunar calendar is called Eid al-Fitr, which is marked when the first crescent of the new moon is sighted.
During the Eid, Muslims attend communal prayers, listen to sermons and give Zakat al-Fitr or donations to the poor.
