Johar Karakchili, 76, lives in the city of Sanliurfa, southeastern Turkey, according to Anadolu Agency.
He was retired 15 years ago and since then has dedicated his life to religious activities.
Among them is collecting old Quran copies from homes, mosques and religious centers to repair.
Johar receives no money for it and covers the costs with his retirement salary.
Turkey is a Muslim majority country with over 98 percent of its population adhering to Islam.
Quranic activities are very common in Turkey where there are some 15000 Quran teaching centers.
