According to the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization (ICRO), it was organized by the Multan branch of the Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen on the occasion of Muharram, the lunar Hijri month in which Muslims mourn the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hussein (AS) and his faithful companions in the 680 Battle of Karbala.

The scholars taking part in the conference stressed that Muharram is a month for unity in the Muslim Ummah based on the love for Ahl-ul-Bayt (AS).

They stressed that such unity should be a basis for overcoming injustice and promoting the Word of Truth.

Addressing the event, Zahedeh Bukhari, representing Iran’s Culture House in Multan, said that Imam Hussein (AS) and his companions raised the flag of the truth in Karbala.

She also underlined that Muslims’ salvation lies in following the path of Imam Hussein (AS).

Imam Hussein (AS) and his companions were martyred by the forces of Yazid, the tyrant ruler of the time, on the day of Ashura, the tenth day of Muharram, in Karbala, which is now a city in Iraq.
