New Mosque Launched in Kazakhstan’s Capital

TEHRAN (IQNA) – A new mosque was opened in Kazakhstan’s capital of Nursultan.

 

According to the Iranian Cultural Center in the Central Asian country, the Rahim Qizi Raysa Ana Mosque is the 11th Muslim place of worship in Nursultan.

Located near the city’s railway, the mosque has been built with the cooperation of a private company.

Serikbay Haji Oraz, the Mufti of Kazakhstan attended the mosque’s opening ceremony.

In a speech, he underlined the importance of building mosques, which he described as a sacred place of faith, learning and education.

Nursultan, previously Astana, is located on the banks of the Ishim River in the north of the country.

Islam is the largest religion practiced in Kazakhstan, with estimates of more than 70 of the country’s population being Muslim.
