TEHRAN (IQNA) – A senior cleric said those seeking discord in the Muslim world have been isolated and today the Islamic unity discourse is prevailing.

Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday, Ayatollah Mohsen Araki, secretary general of the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought (WFPIST), added that enemies have made all-out efforts to sow discord in the Islamic world but the current that has sought disunity is now isolated.

The press conference was held in Tehran on the occasion of the 29th anniversary of establishment of the WFPIST.

Ayatollah Araki described Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei as the flag-bearer of the front of Islamic unity and resistance and said the achievements of the WFPIST in terms of promoting unity have been made thanks to the judicious guidelines of the Leader.

He also said the late founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Imam Khomeini (RA), showed the path of unity and convergence to the Muslim Ummah (community).

Today, the resistance front is standing firm against hegemonic powers, Ayatollah Araki underlined.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran is honored today to have raised the flag of dignity in the world and has cut off the hands of superpowers from nations’ interests,” the cleric further said.

WFPIST is an organization that was established in October 1990 at the order of Ayatollah Khamenei for promotion of unity among different Islamic schools of thought.
